Some of our rescues have had a rough beginning. Our goal is to place them in their best possible forever homes. Our adoption process is NOT on a first come first serve basis, but is structured to find the best fit for our rescues and our potential adopters. We retain the right to refuse adoption to anyone, for any reason.
Our volunteers try their hardest to contact every applicant in a timely manner. Our adoption team is made up of wonderful volunteers who are volunteering their precious time to process adoption applications in between their full-time jobs, families, hobbies, and everyday life tasks. We ask you to please be considerate of this and refrain from sending multiple follow-up emails. If you have not received a response from us 7 business days AFTER submitting your adoption application, please feel free to send a follow-up email on our contact page. During peak volume, response time may be longer.

The Adoption Process
- Adoption Applicaton
We require an adoption application to be completed.
You can complete one online, print a copy and mail it, or you can pick up a hard copy at one of our partner PetSmart locations. - Veterinary Reference
PLEASE make sure to give your vet permission to release records to our adoption team. - Proof of Home Ownership OR Landlord Approval
- Home Visit
One of our adoption team volunteers will make an appointment for a quick home visit to make sure you are set up for your new arrival(s)!
(Please note that due to COVID-19, we are currently doing virtual home visits until further notice.) - Meet and Greet
It’s time to meet your potential furry companion(s)! - Adoption Day!
Once steps 1-5 are completed and approved, we will arrange for final paperwork and official adoption day!

Adoption Fees
Cat and Kitten Adoption Includes:
- Spay/Neuter surgery
- Distemper vaccination
(3 distemper vaccinations for kittens under 5 months old, depending on length of time in our care) - Rabies vaccination
- Proof of FIV/Feline Leukemia Test
(OR proof of mom and/or sibling) - Microchip
- Deworming
- Fecal test
- Flea Preventative
- Exam by a licensed Veterinarian
- Lifetime support by the Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue Team

| Young Adults (1-3 years old) | $175 |
| Adults (3-10 years old) | $150 |
| Seniors (10+) | $100 |
| Purebred / High Demand Kittens | $350 |
| Purebred / High Demand Adults | $250 |
Often times, our rescues require out of the ordinary veterinary care which Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue provides. This may include but not limited to: dental work, hernia repairs, polyp removals, blood work panels, x-rays, emergency/sick visits, antibiotics, and so forth.
Our veterinary costs generally outweigh our adoption fees, so PLEASE consider making a donation to assist with another animal in need!
